First I'll be needin' yer full name, honey. It's for my confidential records. Lord knows none o' the girls actually uses 'em.
Jacy Murphy.
So what do people actually call ya? An' why?
Pitbull ma’am, usually Pittie for short. I’ve gotten in some scuffles and I bite them and don’t let go, like a pitbull.
Age an' birthday? Just estimate if ya ain't sure, hon.
I know I’m 15, I couldn’t tell ya when I was born though. I think sometime in December.
Now you's gonna give me a physical description. Height, build, hair, eyes, the clothes ya wears--everythin' down to the last freckle, ya hear? *gives you a sober look* If one o' my goils goes missin'...well, it pays to be prepared, I always say.
I’m 5”4’. I’m a little, well *Clears throat* big chested. *Motions to BIG chest ((She’s a DD))* I have brown eyes, though my brother told me they have green in them. I usually wear a cream floral patterened dress with black work boots. My hair is a dark brown, when I’m in light, it looks reddish. I am very pale.
I know you'll be sellin' papes, but are ya doin' any odder kinda work? If so, I gotta know about it. *gives you a sharp look* Yes, even that.
Oh no Ma’am! Just sellin’ papes. I sometimes watch children.
What's yer personality like, dearie? Sweet, grumpy, shy, outgoin', overly fond o' the boys? *smiles* It's all perfectly fine here in Greenwich Village.
Oh, I’m a happy person. I like to laugh and a good sarcastic remark. I briefly went to school but continued my reading education even when I had to drop out. I love to read. I love to act. I love children! I’m a little shy and can come off as a bit boastful at first, but I swear I’m not like that after I know you! I was teased a tad for being motherly. I can be described as crazy and talkative, but it still depends on how well I know you. I’m rather loose-lipped when drunk. *Blushes*
Now, most o' the Village is real keen on the arts. Got any special talents I should know about? If ya sing, dance, act, draw, paint, write, or sweep a stage, I guarantee the goils'll find ya some extra work. *winks* You can tell me about any non-artistic talents while you's at it.
Well, I act rather well. I also connect with children better than most.
Any ghosts hauntin' ya that I should know about? I don't mean the kind that supposedly haunts the attic--I mean the bad things that follow ya from yer past, or the bad habits ya just can't seem to shake.
Well, my brother turned to the Irish Mob, but I haven’t seen him in about a year. He sends me money though.
Who ya know in the area, hon? Friend or foe, I wanna hear about it. An' have ya got any fam'ly left?
Oh, I’m new to New York, I came from Philadelphia.
Seein' anyone special, dear? *smiles slyly*
Oh I wish, *Laughs*
Now, last of all, baby, I need ya to tell me why you's here. Where'd ya come from, an' what kinda life did ya have before?
Well, my parents didn’t really want children and just kind of turned a blind eye to my brother and I. They weren’t horrible people, they just were absent. My brother raised me from the time I was 5, he was merely 8. My brother is my primary care-taker. After I found out he joined the Mob and had to move out, I was heartbroken. I couldn’t stay in the house, it wasn’t my home. He found a girl to marry, after that I didn’t want to intrude on newly-weds. I came to New York and saw a newsie, I asked him if there was anywhere for a girl newsie to stay, he told me your house was the best!
